The Buzzard's Nest

When we stopped for our playtime we were playing on really big sand hills. Everyone was jumping off the top. When we were about to set off, Steve told us that there was a buzzards nest up in the trees. He said it would not be hard to see but some of the people were still looking for it after ten minutes.

THE BLACK WATER BURN.

The river was speeding up at every waterfall and slowing down at every pool. There was white foaming water on the falls and the pools were deep and clear. The river was winding its way round the rocks and didn't often flow in a straight line.

Lunch

At 12.15 we stopped for lunch. I had cheese and ham rolls and a milky way a cheese string and a fruit shoot. And Kyle and I went down to the river to fill our bottles. And Colin found a baby frog. After that we played a game. We played it for 15 minutes and after that we went back to school.

Black Glen

We set off up the track through a midgy lane where we saw a tree creeper and a tree pippet.  Steve showed us a flower called Lousewort it has a purple colour. We saw a group of bluebells where we found a huge fat slimy black slug. We walked a bit more  and we came to a field of cotton grass. Colin found a furry caterpillar which would turn in to a Drinker Moth. There was an erupting bog. It is called an erupting bog because if you jump next to it bubbles will appear on the surface. We saw the leaves of a blaeberry bush. Near there we came to a place where there were two big piles of sand and gravel, so we had a rest there and were given a packet of crisps each by Mrs. Lindsay. Mrs. Russell asked us if we could see a nest. I saw it first it was a huge Buzzard` s nest.

Soon we came to a huge waterfall, you could hear the water rumbling and roaring and see the white foam frothing and pouring down with the water. Janette spotted a patch of Orange Cap fungi growing in a watery ditch. We saw some primroses and violets growing near the track and on the right side we saw a cairn  and we added rocks to it. We crossed a wooden bridge and soon after that we saw a hooded crow.

We found a nice spot to have our lunch, it was just off the path. We sat on big rocks. We had our lunch then we played a game of chase even the little ones played too. But Isla did not play because she was trying to find out how many seconds there are in a billion years. The older ones stopped playing because all the slow people kept getting caught. Some of them went down to the river to fill up their bottles with water. Colin found a ting frog which we all looked at.

On the way back we saw some wood sorrel. You can eat wood sorrel but Mrs Lindsay told us not to because there was something dead around there. When we where nearly back some one spotted a tiger beetle. It was really fast and scuttled across the rocks. When we got back to the bus Mrs Lindsay took a picture of us in front of the bus. Then we all said thank you to Steve for taking us on the walk. Then we all went back to school.
