This is what Primary 2 & 3 thought;

(They typed these on the Alphasmarts)

Yesterday it was sports day I had a really good time I came third in one race and I was happy.

Colin

I only did one race because I was nervous and scared. The one race was the people chain and at the relay we didn’t win

Kaitlin

Yesterday I went to sports and I was with  Douglas .We got wet in the water  race and I got wet on my fringe, but I enjoyed it. At lunch I went to the shop and bought some fun gum and Jakob was scared of it. Jakob got a cup for racing.

Kitty

When we were starting the race it was  the frog jump and I was scared but I was pleased when I won the frog jump. I came second in the sack race. I came third in the potato and spoon race and in the flat running race.

Flora

Yesterday at sports day I felt shy when I came in the field. I came third in the flat race and second in the sack race and I came first in the potato and spoon race.

Adele

Yesterday at sports day my heart was pumping in each race. I was excited when the races began as well. I thought I was going to lose. But at the end, when I heard the p3 boy winner, it was me!! And I was so so happy.

Primary 4-7 also used the alphasmarts to type their views of the day.

THE SUN SMILED ON KNOCK PARK

The day had only just begun and I was a little nervous but there wasn’t any rain in sight When everyone was there I had a strange feeling that I would do well and I didn’t do too badly with my team. The team was Isla, Sandy, Helen, Richie, Jamie and Lizzie. We didn’t win all the morning events but we got two firsts, two second places and a third. I also did well in the afternoon races.

The long jump looked hard but it was quite enjoyable and the obstacle course was very good and it was very exciting too. The flat race was my favourite along with the sack race.

When it had all finished everyone was happy but I felt extremely happy and proud that I had taken part.

WE NEVER EXPECTED THIS!

On Tuesday the school was going to the Peninsula sports Day and everybody was excited. We started school at ten o’clock. Janette and I walked up to Knock Park. When we got there was one other school up already and that was Ardgour.

As more schools started to come it was getting a bit busy and we got sorted in to teams, one to fifteen. There were ten people in each team but some teams had one or two short. When the races began Mr Turnbull shouted out what we were to do and where to go. As the day went on the first event was the slalom people chain .Our group leader was called Mrs Fergusson  and she was really nice. I think the best event of the morning was the mini obstacle course.

The tuck shop had everything you needed for a snack. The time allowed for lunch was forty  five minutes. At lunch time the weather was lovely and I felt as if it was going to be sunny for the rest of the week. The break went very quickly. The first event of the afternoon was the long jump and it looked easy but fun. When the long jump was over Janette, Lisa and I went to cheer for the little ones while waiting for the next event.

The next event was the obstacle course and I really enjoyed it but I came second last. We waited and watched a few other  races then we got called to take part in two other races.

When we had finished, we watched the relay and Lochaline made it to the finals and came fourth.

Then we sat in our groups and heard the points and my group got seventeen points

Ardgour won the Relay shield. Jacob won a cup for Lochaline for winning a lot of races.

I knew this was the best sports of all time.

NO MORE RAIN NO MORE  PAIN

On Tuesday the twenty first of May it was sports day at Knock Park I was in team eight .Our first event was the water race. Our team came first at that. My favourite morning event was the water race and the fancy dress. All in all my team got four firsts and one second and then we stopped for lunch. For lunch I had Hoola Hoops in a roll,  tablet and a drink of coke. When I had finished we had ten minutes until we started again.

The first race I did was the obstacle course.  I was under the tarpaulin and I was second and I came second in the whole course. I came second last in the long jump, I didn’t go in the shot put . I waited at the finishing line until Mr.Turnbull called out the flat race . Before my flat race it was the girl’s flat race. Finally our flat race was on and I came joint third .When the men’s race  was on, they handicapped them and Mr. Turnbull won.

Then it was the relay race, Isla, Darren, Kyle, Euan, Craig and I were in it and David and Sian were the subs in case someone dropped out of it. In the first heat it was Acharacle, Strontian and Lochaline and Acharacle and Lochaline got to the finals. We came fourth .

After the race we started to tidy up and we didn’t have any rain to spoil the day and team eight came joint first with team five.

Sports Day Surprise

The night before sports day I was really worried about the weather. I thought it was going to rain because it rained heavily the day before. The next morning when I got up the sun shone overhead, it was a very nice day. I was very excited about the day ahead .

When I got to Knock Park I felt a little bit sick, I told mum and she said that it was just nerves. I don’t know why I was feeling sick because I knew that I wasn’t doing the morning races and that’s what I was worried about.

In the morning, while everyone was doing all of the races, I was helping in the tuck shop. I didn’t have much to do, so most of the time I was just watching all of the other children running around having lots of fun. I felt bored . But I only had to wait until the afternoon because then I could do the things I really like .

I missed out the shot put and the obstacle course because I was saving my energy for the relay race. I did the flat race and the long jump and they’re the ones that I like. I came second in the long jump and I came first in the flat race.

Just a short while later, Mr Turnbull called for all the relay teams on the field. .We all thought it was a bit early for the relay race but it was fine because it meant that we got home earlier. In the first heat we were against Strontian and Ardgour and we beat them both. In the final we were against Achaphubuil, Ardgour and Acharacle. At the start I thought it was unfair because Achaphubuil got a head start, but they were just a small school. Ardgour won and Acharacle came second, Achaphubuil came third and we came last. After everything was finished Mrs Russell and I collected all of the litter. Beside a piece of litter, I found a fifty pence coin and nobody claimed it so I got to keep it and that made my day a little bit better. I thought that it was the best sports day I had ever been to.
