A TRIP TO THE COAST GUARD BOAT.
On Thursday, the school went to see a coast guard boat.
As we were walking down everyone was talking about what we were going to see. As
we got to the snack bar pier everyone thought we were going to look at a boat
there. The boat was at the West Pier. When we got to Lochaline Hotel the
boat came into view, it looked tiny. We walked down to the gate and then
we got on the boat. The gang way was really high up from the water. We had to
walk up some very steep steps. At the top of the steps was the control room it
was huge. We got to push all the buttons and sit on the big seats. Then we went
out side and the view was lovely. We were going to be a bit late in coming back to school
for the little ones so we had to come off the boat. We had our pictures taken
for the Oban Times.

As we were walking down everyone felt excited. We
were all talking. When we got closer we saw the boat.
It looked quite small but when we got closer and closer it looked as if
it was growing like a tree but ten times faster. We went over the gangway it was
really scary walking over the water onto the boat.
There were loads of stairs to climb up, but it was worth it because there
was such a good view. It was amazing to see so much from there. There were so
many buttons and levers and we were allowed to sit where you steer. It was fun
pretending to be the captain. When we went outside it was even more scary
because it was much higher than the gangway . Then we went down had our photo
taken and went back to school .
The Coastguard Boat
Yesterday afternoon Mrs Russell told us to line up. I
thought to
myself
where are we going? Until we started
walking down the road heading for the hotel. On the way down everybody
was really excited. When we got to the hotel everyone could see the boat. Look
at that it is cool. The school was allowed to go on to the boat we all went into
the control room I got to turn the rudder. After we all had a go we came off the
boat and got our photo taken the man said that he would try and get our photo in
the Oban Times.

I was having a really good day yesterday but when I went
home at lunch time it got even better because my dad told me that the school was
going down to the West Pier to see a coastguard boat. On the walk down to the
West Pier Craig kept on falling behind to eat brambles! When we got there I
thought that the boat was brand new because the sun was shining on it so
heavily. On the bridge the captain told us that she was 25 years old. As we got
off the gangway Mrs Lindsay, Mrs Russell and Alasdair took pictures of us in
front of the boat.
